Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

Dennis Hopper's film is a lightweight affair, but amiable enough. It's the story of two naval shore-patrolmen - by-the-book hardass Berenger and slick young McNamara - ordered to escort a prisoner cross-country on the Fourth of July. The catch is the prisoner's a she: Eleniak of Baywatch fame. Saddled with such a tired script and a sorely unprepossessing star as McNamara, Hopper amuses himself by doodling in the margins: he's got a wonderful eye for authentic pop-art Americana, truck-stop culture and crazy golf landscapes. He also has a lot of cool friends willing to put in a day's work for the heck of it. Nothing essential, then, but not a total loss either.
