Clockwise (1985)
Director: Christopher Morahan
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Clock-watching comprehensive headmaster Mr Stimpson (Cleese) momentarily boards the wrong train when he sets out for a Headmasters' Conference in Norwich; the result, a never-ending nightmare as he's forced to hijack one of his sixth-formers, complete with her parents' car, and to travel hell-for-leather across the Midlands countryside. Much of Michael Frayn's original screenplay might seem like routine farce, were it not for the furious pace and level of invention in terms of both plot and dialogue. But what finally makes it consistently amusing is, of course, Cleese.Author: GA
