Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

The story of a Sicilian boy from Palermo who arrives as a guest-worker at the Volkswagen factory in Wolfsburg. He meets a pretty German girl, settles a debt of honour by murder, and as a final surprise becomes a Christ-like martyr at his trial. Operatic and naturalistic in turn, Schroeter's tale of helplessness and outrage seems too convinced of its own importance to really work; and after nearly three hours, that matters. DMacp.
