From Time Out Film Guide

Made for cable, this three-part film by women, about women in prison and its effect upon their families, is less convincing than the average TV documentary. Outwardly swaggering but inwardly crushed, the subjects gradually progress towards rehabilitation and remorse to save their children. Prison authorities come across as tough but fair, with the exception of the members of Silver's 'Parole Board' - easily the best of the trio - who have trouble understanding that a pregnant battered wife who sees her daughter attacked might resort to firearms.
