A Quiet Desperation (2001)
Director: Shakila Taranum Maan
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
When, prompted by the death of his brother, Shammi returns home to Southall, he reignites a number of unfinished stories, while provoking mixed emotions by his significant time away. Indifference, isolation, prostitution and murder all lead to major confrontations and reassessments. Atmospheric and effectively scored, its too literal voice-over aside, this tale of one man's journey through a quasi-deserted city and the past nevertheless provides an insight into a little known London community.Author: GE
