Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

Controversial Indian film, scripted by Farrukh Dhondy, which attempts to turn the seamier side of Bombay (petty larceny, child prostitution, sexual hypocrisy) into social conscience melodrama. The story involves KP (Kut Price), a rogue, and his relationship with a girl he befriends, but the real gimmick is the tabloid TV chat show, 'Split Wide Open', which takes up his story. Tricksy direction (including direct to camera address) is insufficient to disguise trite dialogue, wobbly performances and a dubious taste for lurid exposé.
