Sweeney 2 (1978)
Director: Tom Clegg
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
On TV, The Sweeney usually got its story under way with minimum fuss, and allowed Regan and Carter to carry the show. But here Regan (Thaw) is at his most avuncular and long-suffering as he tackles a bunch of violent bank robbers, a would-be League of Gentlemen operating out of Malta. Unfortunately the film-makers (many of the TV team) can bring little pictorial or thematic depth to the big screen, opting for easy laughs, slick action, and large filler sections which develop neither plot nor character.Author: CPe
