From Time Out Film Guide

Topographically speaking, this sequel to Carrey's 1993 hit starts off on a high (when the pet detective fails to save a racoon, he retreats to a Tibetan mountain monastery) but from then on it's all downhill. Ventura is persuaded by a Brit diplomat (McNeice) to make tracks to an obscure African nation, where the Consul (Callow) persuades him to hunt down a stolen Great White Bat, the dowry in an inter-tribal marriage which will stop the Wachati and the Wachootoo fighting each other. Trouble is, Ventura hates bats, and even more bat guano, staple of the Wachatis' economy and cuisine. Crass.
