The Young Mr Pitt (1942)
Director: Carol Reed
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
This sturdy biopic, written by Frank Launder and Sidney Gilliat, demonstrates Prime Minister Pitt's steadfast conduct during the Napoleonic era and did its bit as a WWII morale-booster. The roll call includes Donat as the handsome Pitt, Morley as his rival, the hissable Fox, Mills as William Wilberforce, Adrian as the playwright Sheridan, Haggard as Nelson, Aylmer as Lord North...and the 25-year-old Lom as Napoleon, a role he'd later reprise to even greater effect in the Vidor War and Peace.Author: TJ
