The Karate Kid: Part II (1986)
Director: John G Avildsen
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
This sequel retains the strengths of its predecessor, the gawky charm of Ralph Macchio (is he really 24?) as the cute boy-next-door turned hero, and Noriyuki 'Pat' Morita as his ever-smart, ever-wisecracking oriental mentor Miyagi. This time the action switches to Okinawa as Miyagi (with boy-next-door tagging along) returns to straighten out his dying father's estate, but also has to face up to a matter of honour that he had left unfinished. The plotline is classic Western morality-play stuff, with the goodies and baddies clearly delineated, but the set pieces are well constructed, and the whole thing is beautifully staged and shot.Author: DPe
