World-weary con artist Gable sets out to convince a quartet of widows that he was a member of their men's gang and thus throroughly deserving of a share in the lucrative stash they've buried, but he doesn't count on wily matriarch Van Fleet taking hold of the situation in the way she does. Gable's Hollywood nickname ('The King') is reflected in the title of this pared-down Western which is striking mainly for undercutting its leading man's macho authority.Author:
