3 Women in Love (1988)
Director: Rudolf Thome
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A young, cropped-haired and other-worldly philosopher (Herrschmann) celebrates the publication of his book - on a snippet of the work of Heraclitus - by visiting an up-market clothes shop for a new suit, and there attracts the attention of three shop girls. One of the girls, Franziska (Altaras) seduces him, then persuades him to go and live in the apartment which the three girls share...Thome's film is an amusing comedy of sexual manners, not so much Rohmer-esque as fitting with that new breed of German satire (from such directors as Doris Dörrie and Percy Adlon) which employs a faux naif stance the better to probe gently into people's motives, inhibitions and aspirations. Not for the hard-boiled.Author: WH
