This directorial debut is an apocalyptic movie with a difference: the last six hours before the world's end are played out on an intimate scale, as various inhabitants of Toronto - some connected, some not - prepare for their final moments: holding family dinners, living out sexual fantasies, trying to get home to a loved one, finishing off a piece of work, while the world (sort of) carries on around them. It's a witty, perceptive movie, exceptionally well structured by writer/director McKellar, with a keen feeling for detail, a nice line in the unexpected and a strong sense of the wider context. Absorbing, insightful and suspenseful from start to finish.Author: GA
