Sentimental tosh based on an old George M Cohan musical, about a young girl striving to placate her bilious old grandfather (Winninger, obviously meant to be charmingly-cutely Irish but emerging as truly obnoxious) when he objects to her marriage to a sworn enemy. Lots of irritating Irish blarney, with only Garland's clear tones leavening the brew in a number of songs (naturally including 'It's a Great Day for the Irish').Author: GA
