The idea of a feature-length peek into the process of Abbas Kiarostami seems like a singular opportunity to soak up film-school lessons at the feet of a cine-master. But even his hard-core fans will have trouble stifling yawns as the director reduces his artistic vision to dull, dogmatic diatribes ("The digital camera has finally stripped the cinema completely of its pretentiousness...") and other unbearably portentous claims. The decision to include monotone English dubbing instead of subtitles only adds to the numbness; the poet of Iranian cinema can make you weep with his lyricism, but this documentary will only bore you to tears.Author: DF
