The Boys and Girl from County Clare (2004)
Director: John Irvin
Movie review
From Time Out New York
This feeble musical comedy may delight fans of traditional Irish music, but its predictable story will bore the bejesus out of everyone else. It's the mid-'60s, and gruff bandleader Jimmy McMahon (Meaney) is preparing to square off in a music competition against his elder brother, John Joe (Hill), whom he hasn't talked to in 24 years. Each resorts to dirty tricks; the reopening of old wounds is as inevitable as one band member falling for a mop-haired flutist on the opposing team.Author: DS
