Tim Burton's Corpse Bride (2005)
Director: Mike Johnson, Tim Burton
Movie review
From Time Out New York
Even if Burton's name weren't in the title, there's no mistaking who's behind this stop-motion animation feature. Who else would place Edward Gorey-esque characters in a garish Hammer Films backdrop? This tale of a fop (Depp) who accidentally proposes to a cadaver (Bonham Carter) is a hemlock antidote to saccharine kids' flicks, but the macabre movie is strictly for Burton's cult of already-converted acolytes. As fun as the film occasionally is, it just plays like a compilation of greatest hits.Author: DF
