Movie review

From Time Out New York

Is this a film about Kurt Cobain? Yes, no and nevermind: Gus Van Sant obviously wants us to ride on that association, as the director's sullen, stringy-haired Blake (Pitt) wanders the grounds of his sprawling wooded estate, yelps out a forlorn "Home on the Range" and otherwise shambles toward the unhappy ending we all know is imminent. But even if Pitt were up to the task of an abstracted Cobain, Last Days would still have to reckon with the huge "so what?" hanging over its arty, musique concrète–laden longueurs.
