Superhero Movie (2008)
Director: Craig Mazin
Movie review
From Time Out Chicago
The problem with Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans (if you don’t count the sexism, homophobia and lack of funny jokes) is that they try to make fun of everything. Mazin does a far better job of staying focused. Aside from a Tom Cruise YouTube gag, Mazin aims almost exclusively for making fun of Spider-Man and, to a lesser extent, Batman, X-Men and Fantastic Four. Those are pretty easy targets, but the cast sell the material, and it’s fun watching Bell, as nerd-turned-superhero Rick Riker, find new variations on his mugging double-take.Author: Hank Sartin
