Transsiberian (2008)
Director: Brad Anderson
Movie review
From Time Out Chicago
A middlebrow application of Hostel-style xenophobia, the plot of Transsiberian hinges on a set of Russian dolls, and the movie, to an extent, is constructed like one: This story of credulous American tourists (Mortimer and Harrelson) on a Siberian train at first suggests a retread of The Lady Vanishes, but it soon artfully incorporates threads involving drug smuggling, marital secrets and the burden of a guilty conscience. The film moves at a steady pace and keeps you guessing, even if the upshot is a bit hollow.Author: Ben Kenigsberg
