Dark Streets (2008)
Director: Rachel Thomas
Movie review
From Time Out Chicago
Some movies are too stagy, but Dark Streets is too much like a supper club. This musical noir “homage” could have been written for Garrison Keillor’s Guy Noir sketch (“The meek don’t inherit the earth. They just end up in it.”) and mistakes shooting out of focus for stylishness. The half-pint Chinatown plot involves a phlegmatic nightclub owner (Mann), a femme fatale (Miko) and man of mystery Koteas, costumed to resemble a cross between Inspector Javert and a Ninja Turtle. The movie is dedicated to the victims of Katrina and Gustav, who can be better supported in other ways.Author: Ben Kenigsberg
