From Time Out Chicago

Georgia (Stewart) is dying of a neurological disease called Friedreich’s ataxia, but her mother (Balsam) would prefer she spend her remaining days posing for photos—the better to help advance Mom’s all-consuming artistic career. But Georgia’s got her eye on losin’ it with gangly cafeteria worker Beagle (Stanford, former Tadpole cougar bait), whose father, Easy (Dern), is carrying on with Georgia’s grandmother (Ashley). From the oddball names to the muted-bordering-on-muffled dramatics, Masterson’s feature debut aspires to half-pint Last Picture Show but winds up on the far side of Dawson’s Creek, mistaking quirkiness for originality and the absence of volatility for integrity.
