Waiting for Dublin (2007)
Director: Roger Tucker
Movie review
From Time Out Chicago
The most shocking thing about this World War II romance is not that someone read the awful script and wrote a check. On the page, the tale of a roguish American flier grounded in Ireland in the last days of the war must have sounded promising. He has to shoot down one more German plane to make ace, and, conveniently enough, a German flier has also landed in the same village. Hilarity promises to ensue. What’s truly shocking is that no one noticed the glaring plot holes or the choppy scene structure in the journey from page to screen. The ineptitude of the plotting is matched by the staging and by Keegan’s acting, which suggests a high-school jock cast in the drama-club play because he looks like a leading man. We were waiting all right—waiting for the end credits.Author: Hank Sartin
