Mel (List) is the quintessential “final girl” of a horror film, pure by comparison with her slutty party-girl friend Jules (Goodman). When the two find themselves on an airport shuttle being driven by a psychopath (Curran) with mysterious intentions, Mel starts planning their escape, and every failed attempt just makes her more determined. Anderson uses his limited resources and HD camera to fair effect, but it’s in service of the unpleasant new model of torture porn; we are teased with the prospect of imminent torture, with occasional bursts of violence to make sure our bloodlust doesn’t wane.
