The Mysteries of Pittsburgh (2008)
Director: Rawson Marshall Thurber
Movie review
From Time Out Chicago
The plot of Michael Chabon’s first novel—about a guy (Foster) caught between college and “real life,” who spends a summer hanging out with a beautiful, enigmatic girl (Miller) and her charismatic bisexual boyfriend (Sarsgaard)—feels oddly flat in this tepid screen adaptation. Foster is bland, Miller can’t get a bead on her character, and Sarsgaard is painfully miscast and given little to work with. That’s a serious problem in a film that centers on a decidedly bizarre love triangle.Author: Hank Sartin
