A Perfect Getaway (2009)
Director: David Twohy
Movie review
From Time Out Chicago
The spirit of Donald Kaufman lives on in A Perfect Getaway, which finds three couples backpacking in Hawaii at a moment when two killers are on the loose. Twohy has cast his movie cleverly, selecting actors who bear ballpark resemblances to one another and having his characters take turns playing red herrings. But even viewers who guess the twist from the TV ads won’t have the satisfaction of saying that the movie plays fair. Garnished with meta-flourishes (Olyphant pitches screenplay ideas to Zahn), Twohy’s conceit requires not only a suspension of disbelief, but a vacation from it.
