Easier with Practice (2009)
Director: Kyle Patrick Alvarez
Movie review
From Time Out New York
Based loosely on a GQ essay, director Kyle Patrick Alvarez’s drama follows Davy (Geraghty)—an author on a book tour who’s terrified of human contact—as he’s lured into a long-term phone-sex relationship with a sultry female stranger. The longer this borderline agoraphobe retreats from reality, the more the Hurt Locker actor communicates the longing, euphoria and guilt behind his addiction. Geraghty’s performance is harrowing: Clinging to the phone and tortured by his ecstasy, he weaves empathy out of a flawed loner’s dysfunctional fetish.Author: S. James Snyder
