Movie review

From Time Out Online

Stellan Skarsgård excels as Ulrik, released from jail after a stretch for murder and trying to hold down a job as a mechanic notwithstanding pressures from a local crimelord, various doubts about him at work, and the not entirely welcome sexual attentions of his eccentric landlady. He also wants to make things right with his now grown son, but that’s not easy, either… A delightfully dry, dark. modest comedy in a distinctively Scandinavian vein (think Bent Hamer and Aki Kaurismäki), the film never overplays the redemption theme, preferring to concentrate on character, milieu, mood – and a pleasingly steady stream of gags.
