LOL: Laughing Out Loud (2011)
Director: Lisa Azuelos
Synopsis
Liza Azuelos’s ‘LOL’ (subtitled ‘Laughing Out Loud’, for those stone-agers who don’t text) was a featherlight Francophone family comedy which enjoyed a limited UK cinema release back in 2009. Now, Azuelos has reinvented her film for the American multiplex, replacing star Sophie Marceau with newly single tabloid fodder Demi Moore. The story is a catalogue of hilarious misunderstandings between mom Anne (Moore) and daughter Lola (eek! Miley Cyrus) as they attempt to navigate the pitfalls of teenagehood while simultaneously dealing with Facebook and Twitter and whatnot. How very, very modern.
