Jack the Giant Killer (2012)

Director: Bryan Singer

Synopsis

Residents of Somerset or Gloucestershire who noticed a strange rumbling in the local woods last summer, don’t be alarmed, it was just Bryan Singer and his band of marauding giants. The ‘Usual Suspects’ director returns with a very loose reimagining of the old English folk tale about a scrappy youngster (Nicholas Hoult) who makes a name for himself by bumping off big blokes. The twist here is that Jack has unwittingly opened a portal into a parallel world of medieval giants, and they want our planet for themselves. The rustic UK setting and solid cast, which also includes Bill Nighy, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane and Eddie Marsan, promises good things for this family-friendly adventure.
