Argo (2012)
Director: Ben Affleck
Synopsis
After ‘Gone Baby Gone’ and ‘The Town’, hopes are cautiously high for any Ben Affleck-directed film and this one has a strong true-story basis to boot. The setting is the 1979 Iran hostage crisis, during which the US and Canadian governments concocted a bold plan to free the six US diplomats being held hostage at their embassy in Iran. Affleck also stars alongside a stellar cast including Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Alan Arkin and others.
