Bale set for new 'Terminator' film?

Christian Bale is in talks to star in a forthcoming revamp of the 'Terminator' franchise.

With Christian Bale all set to keep the peace in Gotham City this summer with ‘The Dark Knight’ – Christopher Nolan’s follow-up to 2005’s ‘Batman Begins ’ – it looks like Wales’ favourite son is also angling for the plum roll of John Connor in the revamped Terminator franchise set to hit these shores in the summer of 2008.

Directed by McG (‘Charlie’s Angels’ ), the hubristically-titled ‘Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins’ takes the original Terminator myth and propels it to the near future with Bale potentially playing Connor now in his thirties.

It is said that producers are looking for this to be the first of a trilogy of films intended to reinvigorate the franchise. It’s not yet known whether Arnold Schwarzenegger will be reprising his role as the cyborg-with-a-heart, but it’s unlikely he’ll be able to get the requisite time off from his day job (running California) to make a firm commitment.
