Pitt and Malick to climb 'Tree of Life'

Brad Pitt is in talks to star in the new movie by Terrence Malick which is to be called 'Tree of Life'

Fans of Terrence Malick and Brad Pitt may want to sit up and pay attention. It has been suggested that Pitt is currently in talks with the famously elusive director to star in his forthcoming film (and follow-up to last year’s ‘The New World’) entitled ‘Tree of Life’.

Horrendous acid flashbacks of Darren Aronofsky’s risible ‘The Fountain’ aside, there’s little doubt that if this a film about the nature of existence and questions of eternal life, it’s a topic that Malick would be able to handle with aplomb.

Sean Penn is also aboard in a secondary role, with the film set to start shooting in Austin Texas in the spring.

This news of Pitt's potential recruitment comes soon after actor's recent announcement that he is to drop out of the cast of the forthcoming US adaptation of BBC political drama ‘State of Play’ (incidentally, he has been replaced by Russell Crowe, not, alas, John Simm).
