Gervais plans 'Flanimals' film
Ricky Gervais is planning to make a film based on the characters from his popular children's book 'Flanimals'.
Fresh from the success of the 'Extras Christmas Special', Ricky Gervais is already back in celluloid action and has agreed to a big-budget animated adaptation of his literary venture ‘Flanimals’.
Publishers Faber and Faber have agreed a deal which will see Ricky Gervais’ book series ‘Flanimals’ turned into a kids’ cartoon by Aussie-based company Illumination Films.
It is thought that the feature will incorporate all four of Gervais’ Borges-inspired works: ‘Flanimals’, ‘More Flanimals’, ‘Flanimals of the Deep’, as well as his most ambitious work yet, ‘The Day of the Bletchling’.
The film, which may cost up to £40 million will be the first time that characters such as Coddleflop, Munty Flumple and Sprot Guzzlor will have been portrayed on screen.
Gervais is the only voice-actor whose services have so far been enlisted. He is slated to play ‘Puddloflaj’, a large balloon-like flanimal, and tells us that ‘It will be weird to hear my voice coming out of a short, fat, purple, sweaty creature.’ Sound familiar?
