Bourne 4 on the way

Just when we thought Jason Bourne had crushed every crooked government agency there is to crush, we hear that Paul Greengrass has signed on to direct number four in the increasingly popular Bond-a-like franchise.

Matt Damon has also agreed to step once again into the boots of America’s foremost chop-socky amnesiac, but has to finish work on two other films prior to shooting a fourth Bourne: first up is another Greengrass collaboration, an adaptation of Rajiv Chandrasekaran’s ‘Imperial Life in the Emerald City’ centring on Baghdad’s Green Zone.

The other film is Steven Soderbergh’s ‘The Informant’ where Damon plays a whistle-blower who testifies against the US government (Michael Mann’s ‘The Insider’, anyone?).

What Bourne still has left to achieve in his action-packed life remains a mystery, as by the end of his last film he had 90 per cent of CIA top brass with their metallic grey suit trousers around their ankles. Time Out predicts the fourth film will be called ‘The Bourne Incapacity’ and it will see Damon engage in a monumental row with his local benefits office who refuse to offer him back pay for the time he was suffering from amnesia.

I also believe that the character Neil Daniels, has his name 'Neil' correct on his files, but the female character types in 'Neal' when trying to find info on her laptop. I've only seen the film once but im pretty sure im right. I fecking love the bourne films. And im painfully cynical. Posted on Jul 05 2009 13:35

Regarding the blood type issue (of David Webb's dog tags reading O- while Jason Bourne's file reads A+)... maybe Greengrass is merely suggesting that, when the CIA alters a person's identity, they do a really thorough job. :-)) Posted on Jul 03 2009 11:45

i don't think matt damon and paul greengrass would have signed up for the fourth if they thought for a second it wouldn't live up to the hype or reputation set by the first three, so i don't think we've anything to worry about. Posted on Jun 21 2009 22:15

If you freeze frames when watching the Bourne Ultimatum you can see that David Webb's dog tags state his blood group as O negative but on an "Operation : Treadstone" induction report it states that Jason Bourne's blood group is A postive.

Many of you have been linking the next film to the forth book, but remember that the Bourne films are based very loosely on the novels, so don't expect a similar plot to the book. I also think that Bourne has fought all the fights and it would be a mistake to make another film, how are they going to continue the story? They've already tied up all the loose ends, I think the only gripping story would come from Bourne's past, before the events of The Bourne Identity - but even then it may not live up to the first three films and prove to be an ugly wart on an otherwise beautiful finger. C'mon people read the books - You find out he wasn't the first experiment - A Russina was the first who is as good as Bourne - When he finds out one of his friends has been murdered by Bourne he comes after him.

They should make a prequel that tells the back story of what happened to him to make him join the agency in the first place. Ultimatum suggests that there may be something interesting that led up to it. The end of the movie would see him entering the training centre. Posted on Jan 23 2009 11:56

I stopped reading the first book after I found out he'd become a professor - absolutely absurd. He doesn't have the character for it, nor the knowledge, nor the paperwork, you can’t just decide one day to BECOME a university lecturer/professor, it requires a lot of study and peer academic approval - it doesn't happen overnight FFS (which it would need to for the plot to make sense, no doubt JB will look the same and be just as sharp combat wise 20 years on *rolls eyes*)!
