'Red Road' gets follow-up

The second chapter of Lars von Trier's Advanced Party game is currently being shot in Glasgow

Lars von Trier’s new film ‘The Boss of it All’ is out now, but the Dane has been talking about being blocked by depression since making it.

His fans may be happy to know that his playful spirit is alive and well in Glasgow, where Scottish director Morag McKinnon is shooting a feature called ‘Rounding Up Donkeys’.

McKinnon’s film is the second chapter in Advanced Party, a three-part game of filmic consequences that was initiated by Von Trier.

McKinnon will pick up where Andrea Arnold’s 2006 ‘Red Road’ (pictured above) – also set in Glasgow – left off. The big idea is that three different writer-directors each follow a strict set of rules and employ some of the same characters. Martin Compston from ‘Red Road’ will star in the new film.
