Superman soars in 3-D

Segments of 'Superman Returns' will be converted into IMAX 3-D for its summer release.

Mar 31 2006

Summer blockbuster 'Superman Returns' will become the first live-action film to be converted into IMAX 3-D, it has been announced.

Three or four sequences will undergo the process, totalling approximately 20 minutes of the film, and director Bryan Singer will design a visual cue to let audiences know when to put on and take off their 3-D glasses.

Speaking of the process, Singer said 'The test scenes that have been converted look, sound and feel absolutely amazing.'

He continued 'The magic of IMAX 3-D will envelope audiences in this story, enabling them to feel the emotion, drama and suspense in a completely new and unique way.'

'Superman Returns', which stars Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey and Kate Bosworth, will be released simultaneously in conventional and IMAX theatres on June 30 in the States, while it makes its bow over here on July 14.
