Killer extras for 'Final Destination 3' DVD

The horror hit will have an interactive DVD that could potentially revolutionise the way we watch film.

Apr  4 2006

With the advent of HD-DVD and Blu-ray, your current DVD could soon be, for want of a better word, moribund. However, a new experiment in interactive film could prove that there’s life in the old dog yet.

In an industry first, New Line Home Entertainment is putting together an interactive 'Thrill Ride' edition of 'Final Destination 3' in which viewers will be able to make life-or-death decisions for the film's characters.

Writer-director James Wong wrote 25 extra script pages during pre-production and shot the footage during the making of the film to create the extra scenes.

The result is seven interactive intervals when viewers will be asked questions like 'Map or no map?' and 'Should Wendy take another look?'. The answers will then affect the plot of the film.

If 'Final Destination 3' is a success, other studios are sure to follow suit, and the future of home entertainment could be changed forever.
