Macdonald takes the '28th Amendment'
Documentary-maker Kevin Macdonald will direct this intriguing new political thriller.
Apr 12 2006
Oscar-winning documentary director Kevin Macdonald ('One Day in September', 'Touching the Void') is set to helm the long-gestating political thriller '28th Amendment'.
Based on a 1999 pitch by writers Alex Kutzman and Robert Orci, the story centres on a young American president who discovers that a secret committee has controlled the US government since WWII.
This hidden power structure assassinates potential troublemakers to serve its own needs, and having made the discovery, the President now finds himself in the firing line.
Richard Donner was originally slated to direct, but will now produce the pic, which will be Macdonald's second fictional feature following the recently wrapped political drama 'The Last King of Scotland'.
