Trailer: The Grudge

'When someone dies in the grip of a powerful rage a curse is born. The curse gathers in the place of death. Those who encounter it will be consumed by its fury.'

Sep 21 2004

'When someone dies in the grip of a powerful rage a curse is born. The curse gathers in the place of death. Those who encounter it will be consumed by its fury.'

And Sarah Michelle Gellar is that person. The former demon arse-kicking Buffy star plays an American nurse, living and working in Tokyo, who is exposed to a mysterious supernatural curse.

To experience maximum fear, ensure you watch this trailer full-screen, full-volume, with the lights off and completely alone.

Following the huge success of Ring Takashi Shimizu is the latest Japanese director to bring his talent and former product to an English-speaking audience. The Grudge'(2004/I) is based on the previous Japanese offering Ju-on: The Grudge (2003), which was followed by Ju-on: The Grudge 2 (2003). So expect a sequel.

Saw this after the Japanese orginal, which is ar scarier (higher body count, better build up, no central character and a very creepy scene left out of this remake). For me this film is great because it seems to hit and manipulate every childhood fear I had far more skillfully than any other horror i've seen. Posted on May 02 2006 21:42
