Campion shoots Keats

Jane Campion is planning a feature film based on John Keats' doomed love affair with Fanny Brawne.

It's been a while since we've heard from Jane Campion, the critically acclaimed director of 'An Angel at My Table' and 'The Piano', but news has filtered through from Cannes that the New Zealander has a new project in the pipeline.

Campion is on the Croisette to promote her new short film, 'The Water Diary', but at the Australian Film Commission's 30th anniversary party, she announced plans to make a film about the 19th Century poet John Keats.

Called 'Bright Star', the film will revolve around his three-year romance with Fanny Brawne, which was cut short by Keats' untimely death at the age of 25.

However, Campion admits that she has no idea when the film will go into production as she is still working on the script.
