Conan returns
Boaz Yakin is planning to direct a new adaptation of 'Conan the Barbarian' for Warner Bros.
Jun 15 2006
Sword and sorcery superstar Conan could be returning to cinema screens soon, with Boaz Yakin planning to write and direct a new film adventure for the character.
Yakin, whose previous credits include 'Remember the Titans' and 'Fresh', is a long-time fan of Richard E Howard's muscle-bound hero, and hopes to get the project off the ground early next year.
His version is also said to be more faithful to Howard's original stories than the Schwarzenegger-starring '80s epics 'Conan the Barbarian' and 'Conan the Destroyer'.
Yakin's next task will be to find an actor to fill Arnie's sizeable sandals. The Rock's name will doubtless be bandied about, but we reckon that the butch, brawny, broad-shouldered ball playing beefcake Wayne Rooney is the man for the job (assuming that pesky metatarsal heals of course). What do you think?
