Rock ruptures Achilles

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has suffered a serious injury on the set of his new American football flick.

Jun 21 2006

It doesn't rain but it pours for poor old wrestler-turned-actor 'The Rock' these days.

First of all 'Southland Tales', his supposed move into serious cinema, turned out to be the mother of all turkeys at the Cannes Film Festival (click here for the Time Out report if you don't believe us).

And if that weren't bad enough, this week the man mountain suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon while training for forthcoming gridiron flick 'The Game Plan'.

Production has now been halted on the football film while The Rock has surgery and Walt Disney Pictures re-think the script in an effort to work around the injury.

Ever the trooper however, Rock remained upbeat about the situation, issuing a statement saying 'I anticipate that with some TLC, pizza and a lot of donuts, I will be making a speedy recovery and will be able to get myself, and everyone who has been working so hard on this production, back to the business of doing what we love most, making movies.'
