Alan Parker finds 'Ice at the Bottom of the Ocean'
The critically acclaimed helmer comes out of self-imposed exile to direct Charlize Theron.
Jun 29 2006
Chalize Theron could doubtless get most men to do anything she wants, but this week she's managed quite a coup, persuading Alan Parker to return to the director's chair to helm 'Ice at the Bottom of the Sea'.
Based on a collection of short stories by Mark Richard, the film concerns a Navy captain who returns home to find his daughter hooked on heroin and the single mother of a multi-racial child.
Theron has owned the rights to the film for more than a decade, but it was only when she studied the likes of 'The Commitments' and 'Shoot the Moon' that she knew that Parker was the man for the job.
The British helmer is currently doing a polish on the script, with production set to start this autumn.
