Olympic film under starters orders

The hugely successful 'Inspiration' short is to be expanded into a full-length film.

Daryl Goodrich's 'Inspiration' short, which was hugely influential in helping London capture the 2012 Olympics, is to be made into a feature-length film.

Nickelodeon Films have snapped up the rights and commissioned Goodrich to make a $30m film, tentatively titled 'Legend of the Rings', about children inspired to greatness by the Olympic Games.

Yet while the original short was full of vomit-inducing sentiment, Goodrich and his producing partner Caroline Rowland promise that the expanded version won't be too schmaltzy. 'It's important to address the issue of failure too,' Rowland explained, 'This must not simply be a rose-tinted movie.'

The pair are currently holed up in LA working on the script and hope to shoot next year so that the film hits screens around the time of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
