Stars to starve in anti-war protest
Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon are taking part in a fast as part of a protest against the war in Iraq.
Jul 5 2006
Celebrity activists Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon are going on hunger strike as part of a campaign against the war in Iraq.
The actors will join other anti-war protestors in fasting for 24 hours as part of a 'rolling fast' that will be passed from person to person until International Peace Day on September 21.
The protest, which started yesterday (July 4) outside the White House, has been organised by CodePink, a women's anti-war group who are concerned at the loss of life on both sides of the conflict.
Actor Danny Glover and singer Willie Nelson will also be taking part in the protest.

- Plenty more where they came from. Actors always think they're important, and they're always wrong. Posted on Jul 10 2006 21:06

- Having been on seven demos against this illegal war against Iraq, I would like to congratulate Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon, for setting us a fine example. Aged 70, I marched to protect my grandchildren's futures against such devastating injustice and violence. Posted on Jul 06 2006 23:19
