Michael Moore spills 'Sicko' beans

The 'Fahrenheit 9/11' director speaks about his next project about America's health care system.

Jul 10 2006

Michael Moore has sent an email to his supporters explaining the progress of his forthcoming documentary about health care in the States.

'We've spent the better part of the year shooting our next movie, 'Sicko'' he wrote. 'As we've done with our other films, we won't discuss them while we are making them. If people ask, we tell them 'Sicko' is a comedy about the 45 million people with no health care in the richest country on earth.'

Moore explained that he is three-quarters of the way through the pic, and revealed that he received 19,000 responses to a call for letters describing the public's experiences with the American health care system.

However, he also added that 'Sicko' won’t simply be a health care bashing doc: 'I don't think the country needs a movie that tells you that HMOs and the pharmaceutical companies suck. Everybody knows that. I'd like to show you some things you don't know. So stay tuned for where this movie has led me. I think you might enjoy it.'

'Sicko' should hit UK screens at the end of 2007.
