'Snakes on a Plane' review

Unfortunately, as they haven't let us see the film yet, we've had to assess the book instead!

Aug 17 2006

The cult of 'Snakes on a Plane' continues apace, with an entirely unexpected package landing on my desk this morning in the shape of 'Snakes on a Plane – The Complete Quote Book'.

Yes, the Samuel L Jackson flick that became an internet phenomenon has now morphed into quite the strangest book of the year – a 96-page tome is filled with stills and snippets of dialogue from the flick, including gems like: 'Yeah, you think you've forgotten how to fight giant snakes but then it all comes back to you' and 'We need weapons. Where is the silverware?'

On top of all that, it also features 'fun' facts, like 'The best way to avoid getting bitten when walking through snake country is to wear hiking boots and shun sandals and bare feet,' 'The green mamba is the world's only uniformly coloured all-green snake,' and my personal favourite 'All snakes are deaf,' with the somewhat unnecessary qualification 'Having no ears, they hear no sounds.'

'Snakes on a Plane – The Complete Quote Book' is out on Friday (to coincide with the film's release) and is available from all good bookshops and online sources, priced £5.99.
