Jackson sends dragons to war

Peter Jackson is to turn the 'Temeraire' trilogy into a spectacular series of fantasy films.

Sep 12 2006

Peter Jackson has secured the film rights to Naomi Novik's spectacular 'Temeraire' saga, with a view to directing the trilogy himself.

Combining history with fantasy, Novik's books re-imagine the Napoleonic Wars with dragons taking part in combat.

'As I was reading these books, I could see them coming to life in my mind's eye' Jackson said. 'These are beautifully written novels, not only fresh, original and fast-paced, but full of wonderful characters and heart.'

'I can't wait to see the Napoleonic battles fought with a squadron of dragons' he continued. 'That's what I go to the movies for.'

Sounds like a load of ludicrous nonsense to us, but with Jackson at the helm, anything's possible, so we'll reserve judgement till we hear more.
