'Volver' continues to dominate in town

'Little Miss Sunshine' narrowly misses out on the top spot at the London box office.

There wasn't a whole lot of action in London cinemas over the weekend, so I'll keep it brief.

Enjoyable comedy drama 'Little Miss Sunshine' was narrowly pipped at the top spot post by Pedro Almodovar's wonderful 'Volver', but both films should continue to prosper in the forthcoming weeks thanks to great reviews and good word-of-mouth.

Paranoid thriller 'Right at Your Door' was the second highest new entry at four, meaning that a whole lot of you must be afraid to leave your houses right now.

The only other new entry was the enjoyably silly and derivative Jason Statham thriller 'Crank', which entered the fray at number nine and will doubtless disappear without a trace come the weekend.

Next week, 'The Queen' takes on 'Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby', with the smart money being on the daft driver defeating the daft monarch.
